Good morning!

What is it there? 8:34am? Yes, my clock is messed up, but I can't fix it. It is twelve hours off, can you fix it for me? About Charles Spurgeon, I put it on the Proposed good articles page. But do you think that it is okay? Thanks for saying that it was simplified well, the English version was so complex, it had words that I didn't even understand! On my Google search bar: If you type in "What Does __ mean", you'll have to scroll down to see where it stops. Anyway, "Top of the mid-morning to you". lol and cheers ~ AmericanEagle 00:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The clock should be fixed. Is it GMT -4? Chenzw  Talk  00:47, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, it's right. Thanks Chenzw! -- AmericanEagle 01:50, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think it is ready to be voted on? I would say yes, because I've gone over it a couple of times and it seems to be really good. If so, would you start the discussion/voting for it now. But if not for any reason, then that's okay. I want someone with more experience list it. I won't be on much tomorrow (Sunday), but can you do it, either way. Thanks, AmericanEagle 04:39, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AWB bot

I would like to ask you a question: What are some things that AWB can do to help either the English or the Simple English Wikipedia using AWB in automatic mode (bot flag)? How would I be able to do that? Thanks for the help, Razorflame 13:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can categorise articles, substitute user warning templates, auto-tag articles (stub, wikify, uncat), sort the interwikis and append/prepend text. Contrary to popular belief, typo-fixing cannot be done in automatic mode, reason being that bots may make mistakes as there may be multiple suggestions for typos. To do this, you can list your bot (Darkicebot) on the bots page and tell the community about the proposed task. After approval, an admin will add your bot's name to the CheckPage, under the section "Bots", allowing them to use the settings under "Bots" in AWB. Chenzw  Talk  14:04, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Believe it or not, I actually read the owner's manual, which clearly stated that you cannot use typo-fixing in automatic mode, which is exactly what I am not planning on doing. What do you mean by append/prepend text? Cheers, Razorflame 14:06, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It means to add text to the beginning or end of pages. It can be useful to... <insert something here>, I don't know how it can be useful. Chenzw  Talk  14:10, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can an AWB bot be used for changes like this? (minus the category shift)? Can AWB bots be used to wikify? Cheers, Razorflame 14:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am not so sure if it can wikify, but it can shift categories, stub templates and interwikis so they are in correct order. If you like, I will add your bot's name so you can try things out. Chenzw  Talk  06:44, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adding warnings to talk pages

Do you think that you could instead of using this heading, you could add a May 2008 heading instead please? Thanks, Razorflame 14:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed it already. Looks like I was too dependant on the vandal warner gadget... Chenzw  Talk  06:37, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

VIP

Thanks for dealing with the report. I would have given a lower warning, only he had already vandalised twice before I had warned him. Because of his long history of vandalism and a block I thought it would be better to give him a high warning. Thanks for the advice, I will remember that next time. EJF (talk) 12:48, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Do you think you could get me a list of all of the articles that I have created? I believe that AWB has a way to do this, and also has a way to export the list in Wikipedia format to a .txt file. I would really appreciate it. Cheers, Razorflame 03:48, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't seem possible. I couldn't find such a thing in AWB. I could, however, retrieve some of your created pages via the Mediawiki API, but the post-processing will be tedious as normal contributions will be listed as well. Chenzw  Talk  04:27, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goodness...

Why does Razorflame keep being denied? He has always been a great editor. He should be allowed adminship. 20,000 edits? You have 3,200. I have 1,500. Six nominations? He deserves it, regardless. Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my page. Cheers -- AmericanEagle 02:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

Then how come in Not quick deletion criteria I see this line: Subjects that are obviously unimportant, but claim to be important as being a non-criteria? The article meets none of the five "A" criteria. Cassandra (talk) 05:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I have forgotten about that. Apologies. However, the article still faces quick deletion under criteria A1. Chenzw  Talk  05:51, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AWB Bot

Can you please add User:DaPunkBot to the AWB page as a bot so I can run some tests? --  Da Punk '95  talk  06:35, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid I can't approve it as a bot until it is approved on the bot page. It will be a regular user for now. Chenzw  Talk  06:37, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apple

iPhone should not be moved, it is not software nor is it an iPod. --  Da Punk '95  talk  07:06, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it has to stay in Category:Apple, to prevent it from being mixed up with Category:Apple products. Chenzw  Talk  07:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bots done everything but iPhone. --  Da Punk '95  talk  07:10, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you want me to see? The section "???"? If it is, I have problems understanding the whole matter, probably because of the punctuation. Please clarify. Chenzw  Talk  01:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What vandalising???

hihi for some strange reason,i'm considered vandalising for no reason at all! Could you explain y i am CONTINUALLY PENALISED for editing an article i didn't edit at all? Thank you.

This is one of the disadvantages of editing from an IP. StarHub likes to assign many people to one IP address. If you didn't vandalise anything, I strongly encourage you to create an account to avoid further irrelevant warnings. Chenzw  Talk  13:01, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

woah you are superb!!! how did you know i sign up to starhub service.

Animal Farm

Hi Chenzw, I noticed you tagged Animal Farm with an "inappropriate tone" tag. Can you explain on the talk page exactly what parts you take issue with so the relevant editors know how to deal with your concern? Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 13:00, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aha. References. I'll get onto it! The Rambling Man (talk) 07:25, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English Wikipedia

Hey! Have you noticed me over on the English Wikipedia? I've split my editing time between there and here now, so look for me over on the English Wikipedia when you got the chance! Cheers, Razorflame 01:12, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lists of rivers of Romania

I have a request of you: Do you think you could fix the columns on List of rivers of Romania (B1) to make it 3 columns please? And, if you would like to help me, could you split the remaining lists down in size to about 15-20kbs per page please? Thanks, Razorflame 03:49, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question.

Is my wikiproject able to watch an artical for vandalism??

The Rules

thanks. Okay. I read them. Please let me know which of the following provisions my article was deleted under, so that I can understand.

Thanks ever so much.

Not Seeing Lack of Notability Explained in the Speedy Deletion Criteria

Again, can you please copy for me the exact provision under which you speedy deleted my article? Is a person allowed to go to the bathroom around here? Should I have elaborated on who Thomas Jefferson was before I got up to pee? Is an architectural masterpiece not a thing worthy of note? I just don't get it. You have an article called PLEASE DON'T BITE THE NEWCOMERS......one would think you might wait 20 minutes to see if I was going to add anything.

Better yet, you might have sent me a kind note explaining that you were sensing a lack of notablity and were perhaps afraid that I would forget to insert the notability reference after I came back from the bathroom.

Bumberspand (talk) 04:28, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please send page which explains Notability

I am scouring the multipage link you sent about the rules and can't find the part about notability. Can you please send me the exact page please? I will have no way of knowing what to do next time I want to write an article if I don't understand the notability rule. I especially want to know how many minutes I have to carve out the case for notability and I need details on how to do it. Shall I just copy the whole first paragraph on the wikipedia article, which is what Running Blade did when he started the article which you wiped out?

I am having a terrible time figuring out how to proceed and don't want to start another article or write another comment as you have now deleted about five of my items.

Thanks.

Bumberspand (talk) 05:06, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The rule is at Wikipedia:Deletion policy. And what did I delete? Definitely not 5 items! Chenzw  Talk  05:08, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here are the five things you deleted.
  1. 05:13, 27 May 2008 Chenzw (Talk | changes) deleted "User:Wikiproject Anti-Vandlism/userbox" ‎ (QD G6: General maintenance

above, I made a spelling change. you deleted the whole thing. Below, I requested a spelling change in the title. You deleted this. )

  1. 04:58, 27 May 2008 Chenzw (Talk | changes) deleted "User talk:Wikiproject Anti-Vandlism" ‎ (QD G6: General maintenance)

)

Below, I sent welcome messages to two users. You deleted both. I am reading in the rules that we are supposed to make the newusers feel welcome so I sent them welcome messages.

  1. 04:15, 27 May 2008 Chenzw (Talk | changes) deleted "User talk:MonteD" ‎ (QD G10: Attack page: See [User talk:Bumberspand]])
  2. 04:15, 27 May 2008 Chenzw (Talk | changes) deleted "User talk:Day2978" ‎ (QD G10: Attack page: See [User talk:Bumberspand]])

And of course, my article Poplar Forest, you deleted, which was about a notable president of a notable country. You have deleted five of my items.

I am still not seeing in the deletion policy how you are entitled to delete an article about a topic which is also shown on Wikipedia. If I can't understand the rules, I don't see why I should give my time to this project. Bumberspand (talk) 05:20, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Six

Sorry, it was SIX things you undid.

http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Chenzw&diff=873351&oldid=873350

You undid my talkpage note to you and you did not respond to me about the link...you just ignored it. Can you think of a way to make newcomers around here want to stay here and keep contributing?

When you depend on volunteer labor, it is probably better not to delete the good faith contributions, messages and title change requests of the newcomers.

Bumberspand (talk) 05:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just out of curiosity

Does "blocked [IP address] with an expiry time of 2 weeks (anonymous users only, account creation disabled" mean that a person from that IP cannot edit anonymously or create accounts? Does it say "only" because already existing accounts editing via that IP can still edit? TransUtopian (talk) 13:22, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am not so sure about the word "only", but yes, that is so that registered users can still edit. In the case of the IP being blocked completely (which is rare), all sysops can still edit, even if they edit from the 100% blocked IP. Chenzw  Talk  13:24, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
<nods> Thanks. Also, in a situation where someone persists in obvious vandalism while I'm giving a test4 warning, should I report it to WP:AIV for admins to consider? On the English WP, a person usually has to vandalise at least a minute after test4, at least in my experience. TransUtopian (talk) 13:31, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You mean the IP is vandalising while you are giving the last warning? Usually, if it is very bad vandalism, any vandalism after the test3 warning should get it blocked. For WP:AIV, unless there is no admin around at the moment (it is a weekend), there is no need to report (usually) as it will get blocked shortly. Chenzw  Talk  13:36, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Thank you. TransUtopian (talk) 13:39, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explain. Why did you delete Wikiproject Anti-Vandlism????????

Wikiproject Anti-Vandlism (talk) 19:42, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification: He didn't. Tygrrr did. It was because tags like this are not allowed unless the WikiProject is one that this Wikipedia has given permission to do so (moved from namespace to Wikipedia space. In order for that to happen, you have to have extreme support from a majority of the users here. As your Wikiproject has not had that happen yet, then a tag for that is next to useless. Cheers, Razorflame 19:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for replying, Chenzw, but it was a question that I was very sure that I knew the answer to. Razorflame 19:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Corel messed up a script of mine by deleting a page on my user page without my permission.

Runningblader,In Anti-Vandlism Project 19:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If it breaks the rules, then any page is subject to deletion without the owner's consent. Please view Wikipedia:Deletion policy for more information. Cheers, Razorflame 19:47, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All it was was a broken redirect. Which failed to look in the history or tell me the broken redirct and i would of fixed it. Runningblader,In Anti-Vandlism Project 19:49, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
