Hello, Dar1435, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing!

You may want to read our guidelines and re-check some of the articles you've been working on. -- Netoholic @ 09:20, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Categories[change source]

Some of the categories you created are inappropriate, because they are self-referential to the Wikipedia. Categories should be subject areas, not based on the format. Here are the ones I think we need to fix:

Remember also that category names should not be singular, so Category:Day of Year should be Category:Days. If you'd like to help fix some of these things, please let me know. -- Netoholic @ 04:15, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Cat:Cosmology should not be deleted. there are still many articles, like Big Bang, which are better put into Cat:Cosmology. When it doubt, it helps to see how the English Wikipedia does things - en:Category:Cosmology. -- Netoholic @ 05:00, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Have you considered adding your ideas to Wikipedia:How to write Simple English articles?

Simple English Lessons is a not a very good page name for this, either.

-- Netoholic @ 07:14, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I will have a look at Wikipedia:How to write Simple English articles in parallel with Simple English Lessons.

Simple English Lessons is not necessarily good name ( the abbreviation SEL is OK ).

Finding a really good name is an interesting task. :-)

Articles are not "Lessons"; we're not here to teach English, we just write in Simple English. Please stop creating articles like Jade and Gemstones which have the same ideas repeated with different words. I really do not understand what your goal is, but the short articles you are making are worse than none at all. -- Netoholic @ 15:51, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Problem with Simple English two-letter-code .SE[change source]

.se = simple english ( so easy ) :-)

.se = Sverige (Sweden) ( Drat! - already taken ) :-(

.sw = Sweden (Sverige) ( If we ask them nicely, there is no clash ) ;-)
