It's obvious that this won't get anywhere – not that I expected it to. :/ May this proposal be withdrawn, please? It seems that everything I try is in vain, but yeah, I'll face it. Hurricanefan24 (talk) 23:57, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock/unban request[change source]

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators said no to this unblock request. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not unblock the user without a good reason. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I'm only using the unblock template since it's the most appropriate for this situation and it's a request to copy a community ban appeal to WP:AN.

Decline reason:

You were blocked for socking here a little over a month ago. This is about what you did here more than what you did on en. I see no reason to believe you have changed. (in regards to current sockpuppet block) Complete unban can be dealt with separately. -- DJSasso (talk) 13:26, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re above: the edit made from this account was accidental and automated. No socks have been created since 15 August 2012. Hurricanefan24 (talk) 14:45, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for clarification: I was blocked for being a sock a month ago; I had not been blocked before then. Although it was for socking, I had had no socks since 15 August 2012; and the block was for evading a block as SEPTA (May 2011). Hurricanefan24 (talk) 20:20, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey – could this be copied to AN? Thanks.

Hi there.

You might, or might not, have heard that about a year ago I admitted I was a sock on en.wp. Given that fact, I was recently blocked here as well by Bsadowski1 (note: the block of Vasco941 wasn't related – I asked Bsadowski over IRC about it in February); I was Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Current_issues_and_requests_archive_36#User:SEPTActaMTA8235 community banned two years ago on simple.wp after immature, impatient, and badly-controlled behavior as well as occasional unwillingness to cooperate or acknowledge mistakes and learn from them. I also acknowledge that the de-facto rule is that editors from the English Wikipedia are generally only given one chance, though I'm hoping this might be an exception to it, if the community is willing.

Regarding why I should be unblocked – the two main objections I've seen from most people are that I haven't really provided any links that evidence change. First off – since 15 August 2012, I haven't edited from (besides on a public IP in school – and that was on Wikidata) or created an account aside from this one. Secondly, under (yes) a related account, I had written several articles on the English Wikipedia; I'm not planning to be quite as active on here should I be unblocked, but I'm more than willing to contribute content.

I've been blocked on en.wp since 13 May 2012, having confessed myself as a sock, and since then I've been contributing, though erratically, to Commons and Wikidata. There, I've contributed with few problems; when they did arise, I attempted to deal with them patiently (though sometimes they did test my patience). For example, in this exchange with Pierre cb, I'd found that my long-term pet project of standardizing rainfall image file titles hadn't gone as well as I'd hoped in some cases – but upon further investigation, it seemed to be a problem with the bot. The second issue was that I'd proposed a mass deletion and redirection of files and hadn't checked too carefully about the existence of files (I'd been in a rush) – in that case, I thanked them for pointing out my error and fixed it. The third issue was one I'd known about already, another blame-the-bot situation. My only other major exchange was with Huntster regarding a delete-redirection request; I subsequently withdrew the request as a response.

On the other front, Wikidata, it's been near-complete silence while I edited there; in fact, the only human exchange that I've had on my talk page was this one. There, I have a never-to-be-completed pet project, a small task force, which I've been working on.

The general issue which led to my original blocks as Perseus on en.wp and SEPTA on simple.wp was my immaturity and drama-seeking; two years have passed since then, and I hope my behavior, on WP, Commons, and Wikidata; and as Hurricanefan25 and 24 is enough to evidence a change in my behavior since then. I'll also acknowledge this was the primary reason for my original block and that I won't repeat the pattern again if this unblock appeal is accepted.

Thanks in advance for your (re-)consideration ,

Hello. Can you access your original account? If so, please log-in and post this appeal on your talk page there, and then we can get the discussion started. You can choose to work from this account if and when your appeal under your original account is successful. I would also advise that you disclose to the community all accounts that you have edited from on the Simple English Wikipedia since your original block. Regards, Osiris (talk) 04:48, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Sorry, but I've lost the password; I wouldn't be able to access it. Hurricanefan24 (talk) 13:22, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Re the query about listing all previous accounts –

Hurricanefan24 (talk) 13:22, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that. Your appeal is now live at the bottom of WP:AN. Good luck! Osiris (talk) 04:20, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It seems there's some confusion here...I'll clarify and respond to some two comments.

  • I was banned as a result of this community discussion regarding my behavior on simple.wp.
  • I was blocked as a sock as a result of my previous abuse (see Bsad's comment on AN), not because I was imminently socking on here.

A proposal[change source]

Hello, The discussion on your unblock has stalled and reached no real consensus. Therefore to try to have a decision one way or another I have offered the community a proposal (here). Please read and confirm if you are happy with this. Note importantly it would involve regular checks on your account. Kennedy (talk) 14:51, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per your request, I have closed the appeal discussion. Should you wish to submit another appeal, you may do so at any time in the future. Best of luck, Osiris (talk) 12:57, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
