Allen Wilford Brimley (born September 27, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah) is an American actor. Brimley has appeared in the movies The China Syndrome, Cocoon, The Thing and The Firm. He has also appeared in television commercials for Quaker Oats and Liberty Medical. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is a former United States Marine. He has diabetes which he speaks openly about in his commercials for Liberty Medical.
