Hwang Ye-ji (Korean: 황예지; born May 26, 2000), known mononymously as Yeji (Korean: 예지), is a South Korean dancer and singer. She is the leader of the South Korean girl group Itzy, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2019.

Yeji was born on May 26, 2000 in Seoul, South Korea. She was raised in Jeonju, and later moved to Seoul to pursue her dancing career.

2016–2018: Pre-debut[change | change source]

In 2016, Yeji successfully passed her audition to join JYPE by performing Twice's debut hit "Like Ooh-Ahh". In 2018, she participated in the SBS reality competition series The Fan, where she was referred to as "JYP’s Secret Weapon".

On January 20th, 2019, she was revealed to be the leader of Itzy.

2019–present: Itzy[change | change source]

Yeji officially debuted with Itzy in February 2019 with the release of the music video for Dalla Dalla and single album It'z Different.[1]
