A Summer Place (movie)

A Summer Place is a 1959 romantic drama movie. It is based on the novel of the same name by Sloan Wilson. It was directed by Delmer Daves. It stars Richard Egan, Dorothy McGuire, Troy Donahue, Sandra Dee, Arthur Kennedy, and Constance Ford. The movie's instrumental theme became a hit.

Two one-time teen lovers, Ken (Egan) and Sylvia (McGuire) meet by accident at a resort in Maine. Ken's wife (Ford) is frigid, and Sylvia's husband (Kennedy) is an alcoholic. Ken and Sylvia consummate their youthful passion.

Sylvia's son Johnny (Donahue) and Ken's daughter Molly (Dee) are at the resort with their parents. They fall in love. Ken and Sylvia leave their spouses and marry. Johnny and Molly request their parents' permission when Molly gets pregnant.
