Albany is a city in the state of Texas in the United States. It is the county seat of Shackelford County. About 2,032 people lived there in 2010. The city was named for Albany, Georgia. The Cook oilfields were discovered in 1926. They became a large part of the local economy. Ranching is the main occupation, raising sheep and cattle. The town slogan is "Albany, the Home of the Hereford."
