In 1999, when she was 14 years old, she moved to Los Angeles with her family for her sister's career and instantly began her own career by working as a backup dancer for Jessica.
Ashlee's first album, Autobiography, was released in 2004. She also starred in her own reality series The Ashlee Simpson Show. Simpson was criticized when she used a pre-recorded vocal track for a performance on Saturday Night Live in October 2004. Simpson released another album in 2005 called I Am Me.
