Austin Currie

Joseph Austin Currie (11 October 1939 – 9 November 2021) was an Irish civil rights activist and politician. He was born in Dungannon, Northern Ireland. He was a member of Fine Gael and a founder of the Social Democratic and Labour Party.

He was a member of the Parliament of Northern Ireland between 1964 until 1972, Teachta Dála from 1989 until 2002 and Minister of State for Justice from 1994 until 1997.

Currie died on 9 November 2021 at his home in Derrymullan, Ireland at the age of 82.[1][2]
