Benedict is a city in Wilson County, Kansas, United States, along the Verdigris River. In 2010, 73 people lived there.[6]

Benedict started in the year 1866. This was when a railroad was built through the area.[7] Benedict was planned out at the junction of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and the Missouri Pacific Railroad.[8] It was named after S. S. Benedict.[9]

Benedict is at 37°37′37″N 95°44′37″W / 37.62694°N 95.74361°W / 37.62694; -95.74361 (37.627014, -95.743500).[10] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.15 square miles (0.39 km2). All of it is land.[1]

Benedict has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Benedict has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[11]

The 2010 census says that there were 73 people, 34 households, and 19 families living in Benedict.[2]

The 2000 census says that there were 103 people, 46 households, and 23 families living in Benedict.[4]

Benedict is a part of USD 484 Fredonia.[12]

Benedict High School was closed because of school unification. The Benedict High School mascot was Bulldogs.[13]
