Channapatna Ramaswami Simha (Kannada: ಚನ್ನಪಟ್ನ ರಾಮಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಸಿಂಹ) better known as C. R. Simha (Kannada: ಸಿ. ಆರ್. ಸಿಂಹ) (June 16, 1942 – February 28, 2014) was an Indian actor, director, dramatist and a playwright. [1]

He was best known for his work on Kannada movies and for his work in stage shows. He directed many successful stage shows such as Kakanakote, Thughlaq and Sankranthi.

Early life

Simha was born on 16 June 1942 in Channapatna, Karnataka, India.[2] He first went on stage when he was 12. At National College, Bengaluru, he joined the drama club and began to direct small plays. In 1972 Simha and his friends started a theatre group called Nataranga. With this group he directed famous Kannada plays

Personal life

Simha married Sharada Simha. Their son Ritwik Simha became a film director. His younger brother, Srinath, is also a well-known Kannada film actor.

Simha died at a hospital in Bangalore from prostate cancer, aged 71.[3]
