A California roll with roe

California roll is a type of sushi roll. It has fake crab, cucumber, and avocado. It is wrapped in nori (seaweed) and rice, with the outside usually covered in either roe (fish eggs) or sesame seeds. It is one of the most popular sushi rolls in North America.[1]

The roll was created by Hidekazu Tojo at his sushi restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia. He named it the California Roll since many visitors who visited his restaurant were from California.[2][3][4][5]
