Cinderella (opera)

Cinderella (Italian: La Cenerentola) is an opera by Gioachino Rossini. It was first performed in Rome in January 1817. It is based on the 1697 fairy tale, "Cinderella" by Charles Perrault. The opera's title character is a coloratura mezzo-soprano. The overture has long been a favorite in the concert hall.
