Collar

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A model wearing a white collar.

In clothing, a collar is the part of a shirt, dress, coat or blouse that goes around or frames the neck. A collar may also be a separate or detachable item around the neck.

Pet animals usually wear collars. Cats and dogs wear collars the most, but other animals wear them. They can be used to tie animals to things or to keep a name tag.

One type of pet collar that is not used every day is the Elizabethan collar. These are used sometimes to prevent biting, because the collar blocks enough of the face that they cannot reach their mouth.
