David Benjamin Lat (born June 19, 1975) is an American lawyer, author and legal commentator. He is the founder of Above the Law, a website about law firms and the legal profession.[1] He attended Harvard College and Yale Law School. In December 2014, Lat published his first novel, Supreme Ambitions.

Lat was born in Bergenfield, New Jersey. His parents were Filipino doctors. He is openly gay. He is married to Zachary Baron Shemtob.

In March 2020, during the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, Lat tested positive for COVID-19.
