On June 7, 2023, Doug Burgum, the 33rd governor of North Dakota, announced his candidacy for the 2024 United States presidential election.[1] He is running for the Republican Party nomination in its 2024 presidential primaries.

In March 2023, Burgum had shown interest in running for president.[2] He announced his campaign at a rally in Fargo, North Dakota.[3]

After low polling numbers and failing to qualify in the third and fourth presidential debate, Burgum suspended his campaign on December 4, 2023.[4][5]
