Douglas Wilmer (8 January 1920 – 31 March 2016[1]) was an English actor. He was best known for playing Sherlock Holmes in the 1965 TV series. He also appeared in Jason and the Argonauts, the Pink Panther movies A Shot in the Dark (1964) and Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978), The Vampire Lovers (1970), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974), and Octopussy (1983).
On 31 March 2016, it was reported by Roger Moore by social media that Wilmer had died at the age of 96.
