Enschede (Low Saxon: Eanske) is a city in the east of the Netherlands. The municipality has about 160,000 people in 2021.
Enschede is the biggest city in the province of Overijssel and borders Germany.
It is also (informally) the capital of the Twente region.
Fireworks accident[change | change source]
On 13 May 2000 there was a huge destruction caused by an accident in a fireworks factory. Twenty-three people were killed, while almost a thousand people were injured. Thousands of people lost their homes.
