Folly Beach, South Carolina

Folly Beach is a partly-private coastal city in Charleston County, South Carolina. Folly Beach is on the Atlantic coastal region of eastern South Carolina. The number of people living in the city was 2,682 according to the 2020 United States Census.[1]

On September 21 or 22, 1989, Hurricane Hugo moved onto shores northeast of Charleston, Folly Beach and Mount Pleasant. These places were affected by Hugo's weaker winds. The Washout, a very well known place that people like to visit, was created not long after Hugo entered the area.[2]

The city was established in 1937 or 1938.
