Fort Hood is a United States Army post in Killeen, Texas. It is named after Confederate General John Bell Hood. It is located halfway between Austin and Waco, about 60 miles (97 km) from each, within the U.S. state of Texas.
It is one of ten U.S. Army bases named after former Confederate generals.
