Fort Plain is a village in Montgomery County, New York. In 2020, 1,930 people lived in Fort Plain.[2] The village is named after a fort that was built during the American Revolution near the village.[3]

The village of Fort Plain is next to the Towns of Minden and Canajoharie, and is west of Amsterdam. Bud Fowler, the first African American professional baseball player, was born in Fort Plain.[4]
