Jawed Karim (born October 28, 1979) is a German-Bangladeshi software engineer and Internet entrepreneur. His father is of Bangladeshi descent and his mother is of German descent.
Jawed Karim was a co-founder of YouTube (in February, 2005), as well as the first person to have uploaded a video to YouTube. Karim and the other co-founders of YouTube sold YouTube to Google in November, 2006.
In November, 2021, Karim opposed public dislike counts.[2]
In April, 2025, Jawed celebrated the 20th anniversary of his first YouTube video, "Me at the zoo".[3]
