John Stone (Australian politician)

John Owen Stone (31 January 1929 – 17 July 2025) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the National Party. He was secretary of the Department of the Treasury from 1979 to 1984. He also served as a Senator for Queensland from 1987 to 1990.

Stone was born in Perth, Western Australia. He married Nancy Enid Hardwick in 1954. The couple had seven children.^[1] Stone died on 17 July 2025, at the age of 96.^[2]
