Julia Catherine Donaldson CBE (née Shields; born 16 September 1948)[1][2] is an English writer. She has published over 180 works.
Donaldson earned a Children's Laureate award for her children's books, which include The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and Stick Man. Many of her children's books are illustrated by German artist Axel Scheffler.
Awards
[change | change source]She has won many awards. In 2011, Donaldson was made a Member of the British Empire by Elizabeth II. She was also made the honorary doctorate of the University of Bristol and the University of Glasgow.
