Kanysh Imantayuli Satbayev (31 March, 1899[1] – 31 January, 1964) was one of the founders of Soviet metallogeny, principal advocate and the first director of Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences.[2][3]

In 2014, the Kazakh National Technical University was named after Kanysh Satbayev. In 2017, the university was rebranded and became known as Satbayev University.[4]
