Dame Margaret Taylor Rutherford DBE (May 11, 1892 – May 22, 1972) was a British character actress. She usually played eccentric characters in films. Her first film was in 1936. She became known for playing Madame Arcati in the 1945 film Blithe Spirit. Her other films included: The Happiest Days of Your Life and The Importance of Being Earnest. She also performed in stage plays in her acting career. In 1961, Rutherford was later declared Officer of the Order of the British Empire. She was named a Dame Commander six years after that.

Margaret Taylor Rutherford was born in the London neighbourhood of Balham on 11 May 1892. She died from Alzheimer's disease in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire on 22 May 1972 at the age of 80.
