This message should definitely link to SE Wiktionary, not E Wiktionary. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 01:25, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Right now it links to the wikipedia article about en:wikt. What does anyone think about linking it to the front page of simple:wikt instead of the wikipedia article about simple:wikt (which I believe is what you were asking, unless I'm interpreting you wrongly). · Tygartl1·talk· 01:32, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry I didn't explain more clearly: there is one link to the SEWP article about Wiktionary (which I think is fine, though perhaps it should be either to the article about SEWT or to the front page as you mentioned), but previous to that is a link to EWT after "There might be a", which is what I think should point to the corresponding definition on SEWT, not EWT. Is it clear as mud now?  :) --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 01:53, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm doing a few tests and it seems that this message only appears during searches for user pages that do not yet exist (see: User:Gore). Whereas if I wanted to create a page on gore or do an intext link to User:Gore, it would show the message MediaWiki:Newarticletext. This still creates a problem, though, because the Noarticletext message makes absolutely no sense for a user page--I mean, there won't be definitions of "user:Gore" on either wiktionary, for crying out loud. It would be nice to know exactly what kinds of pages show Noarticletext (i.e. if it's only user pages or certain other pages as well) so that we can change the message to appropriately match the options that should be available. · Tygartl1·talk· 02:28, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Search option[change source]

I think it would be a good idea to add a search option to this box, so when a person reaches a non-existant page, he could search it in Wikipedia with a single click. Here is my suggested version (you will have to view source):

Wikipedia does not yet have an article with this name.

Thank you!That would be great! ionas talk contribs 05:53, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is an excellent idea. I will apply it now. · Tygartl1·talk· 14:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wiktionary article link[change source]

editprotected Please replace definition of "PAGENAME" with definition of "PAGENAME". The way it is now, the link goes to the en.wikt and is redirected from there to the simple.wikt. The change would make it go directly to simple.wikt. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 04:00, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Thanks for pointing that out <fspan style="color:darkgreen">fr33kman talk 04:11, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal: Namespace sensitive[change source]

I'd like to propose namespace sensitive messages. MediaWiki:Noarticletext includes different templates in the MediaWiki-Namespace depending on the current NS. I propose special messages for article, user and user talk namespace. All other namespace will use MediaWiki:Noarticletext_NS_Other unless their namespace-specific-message is created.
Other changes:

 • Removed link to deletion log. Since some time, the deletion and move log are displayed if they exist. If they don't, a link to the deletion log makes no sense.
 • Removed link to Wiktionary for non-article pages.
 • Removed search link for user and user talk pages.

MediaWiki:Noarticletext:

<div style="border: 1px solid #ccc; padding: 7px; background: white;">

</div>

MediaWiki:Noarticletext NS (this is the article namespace):

Wikipedia does not yet have an article with this name.
* To make the article, click <span class="plainlinks">[SERVER start this page]</span>.
* There may be a page about this subject, with a different title. Search for "PAGENAME" in existing pages.
* There might be a definition of "PAGENAME" in our dictionary project, the Simple English Wiktionary.

MediaWiki:Noarticletext NS User:

Wikipedia does not yet have an user page with this name.
* If you are PAGENAME, click <span class="plainlinks">[SERVER start this page]</span>.
* To contact PAGENAME, go to TALKPAGENAME.

MediaWiki:Noarticletext NS User talk:

Wikipedia does not yet have an user page with this name.
* To contact PAGENAME, click <span class="plainlinks">[SERVER start this page]</span>.

MediaWiki:Noarticletext NS Other:

Wikipedia does not yet have an page with this name.
