Newport is a brand of cigarettes that are menthol flavored and are currently controlled and owned by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. It was named after Newport, Rhode Island.[1]

It was created by the Lorillard Tobacco Company and was originally from Ireland made for alcohol drinkers in 1957. The first Newport had a filter with a minty flavor and a white filter which was replaced by a normal filter.
