Onur Cinel (17June 1985 in Essen) is a German football coach.
Career
[change | change source]Cinel trained from 2009 on the youth team of Rot-Weiss Essen. For the 2011/12 season he moved to TuS Heven as assistant coach. In March 2012 he took over the team as head coach and at the end of the season led it to promotion to the Oberliga .
Cinel then moved to FC Schalke 04 as assistant coach of the U-16. In the the winter break he became head coach. For Schalke Cinel then held various positions in the youth teams. In October 2020 he became assistant coach of FC Schalke 04 under Manuel Baum. [1] Baum was released in December 2020. He remained on the coaching staff under his successor Christian Gross. For the 2021/22 season he returned to the U17. Cinel led to the championship title. In addition to his work at Schalke, Cinel became assistant coach to Ralf Rangnick in the Austrian national team in June 2022. [2]
After the 2022/23 season he left Schalke after eleven years. For the 2023/24 season he took over the Austrian second division club FC Liefering. [3]He also stayed in the coaching staff of Austria.
In April 2024 he became caretakercoach of FC Red Bull Salzburg. [4] For the 2024-25 season he became assistance coach.
