This is a survey of the postage stamps and postal history of Macau.

Colonial history[change | change source]

The first stamps issued for Macau by the Portuguese was in 1884. The common "Portuguese crown" design was used and nine values ranging from 5 to 300 reis were made.

Transfer of sovereignty over Macau[change | change source]

When Macau became a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China, all stamps with "Macau, Portuguese Republic" (Portuguese: Macau República Portuguesa) were no longer used. Instead, "Macau, China" was printed on the stamp.
