Promotion means spreading information about an issue.[1]

Promotion as part of marketing means spreading information about a product, product line, brand, or company.[2] Promotion includes:

  • Publicity and public relations
  • Advertising

Promotion for marketing includes additionally:

  • Personal selling
  • Non-personal selling
  • Sales promotion
  • Tradeshows
  • Direct selling
  • Product placement

Promotion can also happen when a marketing company is providing discounts and coupons to customers to create brand awareness.
