Richard Freed (December 27, 1928 – January 1, 2022) was an American music critic, program annotator and administrator. He was known for the concert program notes he wrote for many orchestras and ensembles in the United States. He was born in Chicago. He won a Grammy Award in 1995.

Freed died on January 1, 2022 in Rockville, Maryland from a heart attack, five days after his 93rd birthday.[1][2]
