Shivajingar

Shivajinagar is a block in Samastipur district, Bihar, India, located approximately 26 km east of the district headquarters on the banks of the Kareh river. The block comprises 71 villages and 17 Panchayats, with agriculture being the main source of livelihood. Shivajinagar also serves as a local center for education, health, and government services.^[1]^[2]

Geography

Shivajinagar is situated along the Kareh river and covers an area of approximately 162.55 km². It is part of the Samastipur subdivision and is connected by road to Samastipur and Darbhanga districts.

According to the 2011 Census of India:

Total population: 193,850 (Male: 101,771; Female: 92,079)
Literacy rate: 58.54% (Male: 57.15%, Female: 37.28%)^[3]

Economy

The population primarily relies on agriculture for livelihood. The block also functions as a hub for education, healthcare, and government administration.

Notable people

Udayana, Indian philosopher and logician.
N. Mandal, film editor and director from Dasut village, Shivajinagar. He is recognized for contributions to Maithili cinema, including social-themed films such as Rakhi Ke Laaj. His work is cited in the book History of Maithili Cinema.^[5]^[6]
