Steven John "Steve" Carell (born August 16, 1962) is an American actor, comedian, producer, writer and director.[1] His father is of Italian and German descent, and his mother was of Polish ancestry.[2] Carell is best known for his comedic work as Michael Scott in The Office and The Daily Show.[3] He played Andy Stitzer in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Gru in Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 and John Eleuthère du Pont in Foxcatcher. He has appeared on Saturday Night Live.

He starred as Donald Rumsfeld in the 2018 comedy Vice.
