Sybrand van Haersma Buma

Sybrand van Haersma Buma, often just called Sybrand Buma, (born July 30, 1965 in Workum) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). He has been political leader since 2012.

He has been a member of the Second Chamber since 2002, and also parliamentary leader since 2010.

He studied law at the University of Groningen, and worked at the Council of State and as an assistant to the CDA parliamentary group before entering into politics.

He is a Protestant. Furthermore, he is a descendant of the patrician Frisian family of Buma and partly of Jewish descent (his maternal grandmother was Jewish).
