The TIE Fighter is a spacecraft seen in the Star Wars universe. TIE stands for twin ion engines. The engines are powered by solar panels that provide it with the ability to move and maneuver. These ships have no hyper drive and are short range fighters. Their production was also more cost-effective than other ships.
TIE fighters also come in different varieties such as the TIE interceptor, the TIE bomber, the clawcraft and perhaps others.
