Linguistic notation[change source]

In this page that the first part uses formal linguistic notation, and the second part does not. A problem is, one the one hand exact notation might be needed, but on the other hand there's no way we can teach it sufficiently to make it useful. Macdonald-ross (talk) 11:07, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I like the way it's written now, because it uses both International Phonetic Alphabet and respelling. English is a weird language: for any group of letters they could be pronounced in different ways, so I think it's important to use IPA to be clear.
On a side note, do people from New York City actually say "hot dog" as "hwot dwog"? That doesn't sound right to me... @Daviddwd 135.180.146.84 (talk) 17:52, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
