How can we make the article both simple and descriptive?[change source]

@Macdonald-ross: Hi and thanks for taking an interest in the article. I and User:AhmedT93 have struggled with making this topic accessible and this version probably gives the readers too many technical terms in a small space. So we were anticipating edits from the community but your version seems to have problems of its own. "DNA is a well-understood material" is a vague statement and I'm not sure it helps the reader know what DNA origami is. "The base pairs make DNA a useful construction material" doesn't explain what base pairs are and in what way they relate to the creation of DNA molecules. Your edit took out some citations.

So I hope there is some compromise possible, which is specific enough to give detail about what DNA origami is, but doesn't require the reader to learn a lot of new scientific concepts. We probably don't need to mention computer-aided design software, or the Watson-Crick base pairing rule. You are much better established on Simple English Wikipedia than I, but I understand that it's only the language that's supposed to be simple; some scientific topics are explained in admirable depth. Looking at the DNA article, it explains that DNA molecules are made of nucleotides. It would be appropriate to explain that in this article, and then say that the order of nucleotides determines the shape of the molecule, then say that nucleotides (or we can say "base pairs") are put in order to make shapes. It would be good to bring back the citations that relate to that process. What do you think? MartinPoulter (talk) 14:04, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
