Name[change source]
The official Turkish Name is Gelibolu for the citiy and peninsula.
But english mother tongue speakers unfortunately take the unoffical old greek name Gallipoli Nalanidil (talk) 13:20, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- We take what is much more known. Instead of "David Dwight Eisenhower" (Eisenhower's original name), he's called "Dwight D. Eisenhower". Instead of "Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.", we say "Joe Biden". - No, you can't compare that. Because, these are official Turkish names that are simply ignored and foreign unofficial Greek names are used by english speakers. All of this has a political character. - Again I will re-say, "We take what is much more known". We use the name that is much more common in published articles/news/etc. Unless the sources do use the official Turkish name, or English Wikipedia decides to rename it to Gelibolu, we will use what is more common.
