Article improvement?[change source]

Witohut touching on the subject aea:

  • Putting the intro into a Flesh-Kincaid readability checker, it tells me that's a "college-level" text, with a score of 30-50 (39.4, grade level 11.5)
  • As always, avoid passive constructions, if you have an actor. To improve, shorter sentences...
  • Avoid perhaps politically-correct pronouns ("thir"?), use the plural, and regular plural forms ("their"). This is an article about a religious belief, we are not talking about gender-issues here.
  • If we have a Kalasha religion, the people are likely the Kalasha/Kalash people. Even if a few of them don't follow the religion, they are still Klöash(a)...
  • At least in my book, Islam is monotheistic, so how can it share similaritires?

Sorry, but I couldn't quite understand the third point (thir?). Regarding readability, of course, I'll keep on improving it. Right now, I was just expanding the article so we could get content about everything. As for the last point, the Kalash region or Kalashdesh has been under Islamic rule of the Kho's (Mehtars) for centuries, and Islam has had a significant impact on their culture and religion now. Some Kalash are monotheistic and only worship one God, "Dezau," while others worship demi-gods and fairies alongside too. The following journal explains much about it. I'm thinking of creating a separate section for that too. Source. – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 11:40, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, buit "thir" could likely be a pronoun some non-binary people use. As all gendfer-reled topics, it can be very complex, and adds unneded complexity. Most likely, it was a typo though. Main point: don't add complexity, if it isn't needed. It may well be though, that like some other Indic religions, they have a concept of "third-gender", and mentioning that is important, so that only "thir" can be used to express it. But Simple English is also about thinking about the audience. Some of the people reading this have a native language other than English, and their grasp of English may be very bad. So a "thir" will likely confuse them more than it helps. Eptalon (talk) 12:03, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, "thir" was probably a typo, and I didn't realize I made that mistake until you mentioned it. I agree that these terms can be complex. Thanks for pointing that out, though. – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 12:13, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Be careful about categories: Ideally a website should be pushed down the category tree as far as possible. Ideally, if in it is a category, it should not aslso be in any child categories of that category. I have removed "religions in Pakistan" (or similar), because we already have "religions originating in Pakistan". Eptalon (talk) 13:24, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks! – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 13:36, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Preliminary evaluation for Feminism and Folklore 2024[change source]

Hello Feminism and Folklore contestant! Like my able colleague Eptalon, I have run this article through the readability gizmo and I'm getting nothing younger than tenth grade with an average of eleventh. That usually means it is too complex for SEWP. It is unlikely to remain unless someone simplifies it considerably. I will now run just the portions you added for your contest entry to the readability gizmo. This gives me nothing younger than ninth grade with an average of eleventh.

I will now read the entries with my indomitable human brain. I concur that this article is in regular English, not simple English. Darkfrog24 (talk) 00:53, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
