I hate to take this out of the Community portal discussion, but I've never heard of a "doorway" website, "portal" would be more appropriate. Archer7 09:35, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I actually agree in this case--'internet portal' (as a very generalized concept) has gained currency that I think specific topic 'portal's have not--compare hits for "internet portal" vs. "biology portal". Freshstart 09:34, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should move the MSN Language to a seperate article, it isn't only used on MSN Messenger, it's used all over the web. See this page on EN. And should we really add the ones with expletives in, especially as Simple is supposed to be more school-friendly than EN? Jordanhatch - talk 18:23, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MSN Messenger Language[change source]

There is a section in this article, titled "MSN Messenger Language", which I think should be removed. First, this is not MSN Messenger Language, but a set of computer slangs, used in all chat systems (no necessarily MSN Messenger). Second, this section is incomplete, unreferenced and not well formatted. Third, it needs to be described on a separate page, if it has a place in Wikipedia at all. I'm going to remove that section and paste it below my comment here. MSN Messenger Language[change source]

Because a conversation is more difficult to have when typing than a normal conversation, many MSN enthusiasts have made up short combinations of letters that can describe emotions or status quickly and efficiently. Some well known ones are:
lol : Laugh Out Loud
rofl : Rolling on floor laughing
brb : Be right back
afk : Away from keyboard
g2g : Got to Go
hb : hurry back
wb : welcome back
rofl copters : rolling on floor laughing copters (this phrase was made up by hooning teenagers, and actually makes no sense whatsoever, and is a common phrase when mocking MSN Messenger language)
bf/gf : Boyfriend/Girlfriend
omg : Oh My God
wtf : What the F*ck
lmao : Laughing My *ss Off
sup : What's Up?
n2m : Nothing too Much (Usually used after someone has just asked, "sup?" or something of that manner)
tx/tnx/ty : Thanks or Thank you.
np : no problem
