{{Infobox Italian comune}} can be used for adding at-a-glance information to articles about comuni in Italy. This template should be used instead of {{Infobox settlement}} in articles about Italian comuni. It should not be used for a subdivision of a comune, such as a frazione, quartiere, circoscrizione, località, terziere, sestiere, contrada, or historical location that was never a comune. These other divisions can use {{Frazione}} or the more general Infobox settlement.

Required parameters marked with an asterisk (*). Double asterisk (**) indicates that one of the two parameters is required, but not both; the exception to this is uses of the infobox on comuni in the Aosta Valley, which contains no provinces or metropolitan cities. The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book.
