This template adds the following text (without the surrounding box) to an RDT:

Usage[change source]

{{UK-railway-routemap|cat=London}} should be added to all Route Diagram Templates of London railways.

Note that |cat=London is required to change from the default Category:Templates for railway lines of the United Kingdom. Also, London can be abbreviated to Lon or just L.


Adding an optional parameter will include the railway name as a link, for example,

{{UK-railway-routemap|London and Blackwall Railway|cat=London}}

will change the first line of the template to:


The optional named parameter {{{type}}} will change “a London-area railway” to “a London-area alternate text”. For example,

{{UK-railway-routemap|type=[[light rail]] line|cat=Lon}}

will change the first line of the template to:

and,

{{UK-railway-routemap|Bakerloo line|type=Underground line|cat=L}}

will change the first line of the template to:


The optional named parameter |the=anything will omit the word “the” before the railway name. For example,

{{UK-railway-routemap|the=x|London King's Cross railway station|type=[[railway station]]|cat=London}}

will change the first line of the template to:
