The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa is an animated television series produced by Disney. It is based off The Lion King movie. The series was shown from September 16, 1995 to September 24, 1999. It had a total of 3 seasons, 85 episodes (171 segments).
Main characters
[change | change source]- Timon (voiced in early episodes by Nathan Lane, Quinton Flynn in Season 1 and Kevin Schon in Seasons 2–3) and Pumbaa ( voiced by Ernie Sabella) are the main characters of the show. Timon is a meerkat, and Pumbaa is a warthog. The two have wacky hijinks and adventures in the Pridelands and other places around the world.
- Simba (voiced by Cam Clarke) the lion is their friend. He was the main character of The Lion King movie and is now King of the Pridelands. Simba makes a few cameo appearances and even appears in sub-episodes, where he acts as the voice of reason around Timon and Pumbaa’s antics.
- Zazu (voiced by Edward Hibbert) is a proud and bossy hornbill who appears in some episodes. He is Simba’s royal steward and also the jungle administrator.
- Shenzi, Banzai and Ed (voiced by Tress MacNeille, Rob Paulsen, and Jim Cummings respectively) are three hyenas who are always looking for food. They usually end up getting into some trouble, such as falling into traps or getting caught by Pumbaa.
- Rafiki (voiced by Robert Guillaume) is a wise mandrill who gives good advice to Timon, Pumbaa, and other characters. He is the main character of his own segments called "Rafiki Fables", where his powers as a shaman are shown.
- Quint (voiced by Corey Burton) is the human archenemy of Timon and Pumbaa and the main villain of the show. He is known to be jealous and always wants to get all the fame. Sometimes he gets into trouble with his father, who is strict on him and verbally punishes him, but is nice and soft on Timon and Pumbaa’s and even offers them grubs.
- Speedy the Snail (voiced by Corey Burton) is a small, laid-back snail who can talk and sing. Timon and Pumbaa originally planned to eat him, but ended up becoming friends with him instead. They often find themselves rushing to save Speedy from dangerous situations.
- Boss Beaver (voiced by Brad Garrett) is a cranky beaver who has a hard-working attitude that is the opposite of Timon and Pumbaa’s “Hakuna Matata” lifestyle. He is sometimes too harsh on his employees. He also thinks that safe work conditions are very important.
- Irwin (voiced by Charlie Adler) is a clumsy penguin whom Timon and Pumbaa meet on a boat trip to Antarctica. He is good-hearted, but his clumsiness means that other characters always try and avoid him.
- Toucan Dan (voiced by Jeff Bennett) is a criminal toucan, wanted by the police. He is known for being a sly con-artist and always manages to trick Timon and Pumbaa (or, as seen in his debut episode, only Timon) into helping him in his schemes and cons.
- Smolder the Bear (voiced by Jim Cummings), also called Mr. Bear, is a large brown bear with a bad temper who Timon and Pumbaa often run into. He can be quite scary and dangerous, but at least one episode shows that deep inside, he is a nice guy. His name is a parody of Smokey Bear.
- The Three Natives (voiced by Jeff Bennett) are a trio of human trouble-makers who at first appear to be native islanders in masks and costumes, but are later shown to really be university students pretending. Timon and Pumbaa meet the characters in different episodes when visiting Bora Bora and New Guinea. In their first appearance, they capture Pumbaa and worship him as a god-king; in another, they try and steal his tusks.
