The Philadelphia Story is a 1940 American romantic comedy movie directed by George Cukor and was based on the 1939 play of the same name by Philip Barry. It stars Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, Ruth Hessey, John Howard, Roland Young, Mary Nash, Virginia Weidler, Henry Daniell and was distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was nominated for 6 Oscars and won 2 Academy Awards in 1941. It was remade as High Society in 1956.
