UK Biobank

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The UK Biobank is a big science study. It has lots of medical information about people. Its offices are in Stockport. It has information about what diseases people have. It has information about the genetics of these people with diseases. This helps us understand the cause of diseases. It helps us study the genetic causes of disease.[1]

In 2023 it was said to be the most important health database in the world. The data it contains — collected from over half a million volunteers and drawn from blood, saliva, urine, height and weight — “amounts to the most detailed picture of human health anywhere on the planet”.[2]
