University of Montpellier

The University of Montpellier is a French public research university in Montpellier, south-east France. Founded in 1289, it is one of the oldest universities in the world.

For 45 years from 1970 to 2015, the university was divided into three universities (University of Montpellier 1, University of Montpellier 2 and Paul Valéry University of Montpellier 3). In 2015, a new University of Montpellier was created from the first two universities. However, the Paul Valéry University of Montpellier remained a separate entity.
