The remnants of Alberto caused strong winds in parts of Canada, especially Nova Scotia. Some of the highest winds reached 74 mph (119 km/h).[1] The storm dropped over 2 in (51 mm) of rain in the area.[2] Because the ground was soft and wet, the wind blew down some trees and tree branches,[1] which caused minor loss of power.[3] The storm also affected Newfoundland.[4] It was reported than the storm left four sailors missing to the south of Nova Scotia.[5]
