Jesus fucking christ! Are people so dumb these days, that such a project as this is necessary? I don't think we should be pandering to the educationally challenged populace, but rather leading by example so that they might want to better themselves. Let's face it; This project isn't for people for whom English is a second (or later) language. It's for people who ONLY speak English and yet who paradoxically can't even speak English! People who were taught to speak, but never learned to think. Similarly to how we all might feel slighted when a movie spells everything out for an audience it thinks is too dumb to follow along otherwise, I feel that this project an insult to the human intellect and the magnificent accomplishments we're capable of achieving. Please don't normalise human ignorance. I'm not suggesting we need to 'smart-shame' people, but rather that we shouldn't lower our standards.

Peace

I don't know where you got your information, but the target audience for this project does indeed include people whose first language is not English. It also includes native speakers whose English skills are not at a high level, whether because they are children who haven't learned it yet, because they have learning disabilities, or because of other reasons. If you don't find this project useful, you might like to look at the regular English Wikipedia instead. --Auntof6 (talk) 12:22, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
