English ban[change source]

Hmmm, sounds like you're in a difficult situation. Could I have your previous EN username to try and check things out before I make a decision? Archer7 | talk 20:29, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Found it. I'll check things out. Archer7 | talk 20:30, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am quite concerned at the situation under which you were banned. On my reading of the ban notice, the dispute wasn't so much about the content that you were submitting, it was more your conduct. If you have a problem with another user's edits, you must politely inform them of your problem, and see if you can resolve it. If that doesn't work, don't revert and start with personal attacks and legal threats, just talk to other people and ask for a second opinion. I will need to check the facts behind your edits and take a closer look at things on EN, but for now I personally am willing to let you contribute on Simple.
Here's an idea of an agreement that might help resolve this:
  • You remain editing from an IP address at the moment.

OKAY. ACCOUNTS ARE ANNOYING ANYWAY.

  • You review all policies of Wikipedia and make sure you know them, although admittedly that is not enforcable.

I KNOW THEM VERY WELL NOW. A YEAR AGO I WAS A NEWBIE AND PRESUMED THAT HOW OTHERS ACTED WAS HOW I SHOULD ACT TOO. I REALISE THIS WAS A MISTAKE.

  • You raise any concerns you have about other contributors in a civil manner, and ask other users for help when you feel it is necessary. No legal threats, ever.

I NEVER MADE ANY LEGAL THREATS.

Note that before I make my final decision, I will need to take a closer look at EN. Other admins may also want to have their say on this issue, and the above agreement is only an idea and is not in place at the moment. Let me know what you think. Archer7 | talk 20:53, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OKAY THEN. JUST LET ME KNOW. I DO NOT WANT TO WRITE MORE ARTICLES ON HERE IF THEY ARE JUST GOING TO BE DELETED AND ME BANNED. I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE MY TIME. BUT IF YOU WANT ME TO CONTRIBUTE, THEN I WILL.

Is User:Newb your account?. Abusing sockpuppets will land you a ban over here as well. Archer7 | talk 20:56, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NO. I THINK THAT THAT IS THE OTHER IP ADDRESS THAT WAS ALSO EDITING THE Wikipedia Review ARTICLE WITH ME. I THINK THAT THAT IS en:User:Sgrayban BUT I AM NOT SURE. I ASKED YOU IF I WOULD BE BANNED. IT WOULD BE SILLY FOR ME TO DO THIS. WE ARE IN WHOLE OTHER COUNTRIES FROM EACH OTHER.

(my response is all in CAPS so that you do not get confused). 203.122.215.44 23:05, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No,this user is not any other user on Simple English Wiki. Your suspicion might have merit based on your notion of what you perceive to be an extreme threat to this project from what you call sockpuppets. However, I don't see the grave threat that warrants raising suspicions based on my response to an open invitation. From my perspective, it is most unfriendly to create a software that allows open editing, and to provide links that invite immediate editing, then to raise suspicions about the character or identity of those who were invited to contribute anonymously. I read this page, I saw a notice inviting comments about deletion and I responded as invited. If you have a problem with who respond to your invitations, the appropriate response is not to question the integrity of invited guests but to revise the invitation. Wikipedia has always had problems, and English has the most. I am very tempted to intervene on EN, but I haven't yet decided on what I should do, I don't need to tell you that this is extremely complicated and confusing. I will let you know my decision shortly. Archer7 | talk 09:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
